Has anyone ever withdrawn an application for [Baukindergeld], or is that even possible? We have now applied for it after our move. Unfortunately, if you apply in 2020, you have to provide income proofs from 2017 (wtf?). My husband only has Australian documents, and just to prove that we don’t remotely approach the 90k, we would have to pay 500€ or more for certified translations.

If we could withdraw the application and submit it again in January 2021, then we would have to provide proofs for 2018 and 2019 (I assume), and then we would have nice, German, jointly assessed income tax notices, just the way the bureaucrat likes it.

That makes sense, since it is not certain that the notice from the previous year is already available.

Just ask the KfW.

How far along are you in the process?
Also keep in mind the 6-month deadline after moving in.

Otherwise, 500€ is probably a ridiculously low expense for the very good chance of a gifted five-figure amount.

Yes, I already have the notices for 2018 and 2019 here in the folder.
It’s about the one from 2017 that is causing us the problems.

We moved in in October, so January would still be fine for the application.
And you don’t have to throw €500 (or more) out the window just because you want to apply for a five-figure amount.

That's nice, but it doesn't help you meet the current funding conditions. These make absolute sense, as mentioned before, because an applicant cannot have the previous year's notice, for example, in March yet. I, for example, still don't have mine for 2019, as I submitted later in the year and the office usually takes 6 months. So that is impractical.
Therefore, the notices from the year before last and the year before that are relevant.

You didn't answer the question of how far the application has progressed. See application phases on the KFW page.

Just give them a call.

I don't understand? In January 2021, the year before last would be 2019 and the year before that 2018.
I have both notices here. Already now. I can hold them in my hand. They are there - without waiting.

The application is not far yet; so far I have only identified myself.

However, this is an extension due to the corona measures, so it is an extension of the year 2020 and therefore the proofs from 2017 and 2018 would have to be provided.

Fundamental question regarding this: it is about the average income of the two years, right? And another question: it says the key date is the date of the purchase contract, building application, or earliest possible start date of construction. Which date applies for the builder then? Purchase contract with the building owner? Building application?
