Extend the attic with OSB boards

Hello everyone,

we have a city villa and the attic is not developed and is also not planned to be. Currently, it is covered with about 10 sqm of OSB boards to be able to store boxes or something like that.
10 sqm is a bit little for us, our site manager said that if we additionally install OSB boards, the structural engineer must be consulted beforehand.

I don’t want to start a structural discussion now, but if I maybe install about 15 more boards (total about 300 kg), could that have such an effect on the structure that problems could arise?

In case the question comes up, no mega heavy things are supposed to be stored up there, but suitcases, Christmas decorations, and the wife's knick-knacks, of course ;)

An attic is actually meant for this purpose and is usually used that way. If there are structural problems, a detailed calculation should be done again :-)

Since we do not know how your attic is constructed, we cannot say whether there might be any problems. Either you give us some details or show us pictures so that it can be assessed, or you listen to your site manager, which is certainly the better option, because I don’t think anyone here can definitively tell you if it’s enough or not.

Oh dear... if there are already problems with the statics there, what will happen once something is stored there?

Maybe the other beams are not real beams but just a [UK] for the ceiling. Then there could indeed be a problem with the static structure.

Yes yes, those are not really beams. More like a prefabricated construction.
