Dear forum community

in our new building the painting work is now underway. The house has expanded clay walls.

According to the contract, the painter is supposed to putty 2x. The work is carried out with a spray putty.

The painter has now informed us that he will only putty 1x (spray putty), but simply use double the amount.

Therefore my question: is this professionally correct?

After the puttying work, it will be sanded, painter’s fleece will be applied and painted 2x (hopefully really 2x and not also double the amount ;-))

I look forward to your answers.

Well, the point of applying filler twice is that first the larger defects are repaired and then sanded. For the second round, only fine defects remain, and after the second sanding, it is perfect. The filler must be applied in just the amount needed to fix the defects. More doesn't help at all. More precisely, 2x filling should actually be called 2x sanding.
