Hello everyone,

what are the experiences with independent financial advisors (I don’t want to mention any names here...)?
The reputation is not so good...
Is it worth it or what costs arise for the consultation?
Or is it better to stay away and focus on direct inquiries to the banks?

In our case, it is about financing a new building.

Thanks in advance for the experiences and opinions

Why shouldn't the reputation be so great? I received free advice here from an independent consultant (who specialized in construction financing), and only a small part of the consultation was about the financing; we also received many useful tips for/as prospective builders (some of which I applied, including amounts/independent construction contract review and so on). Since after negotiations his offer was better than those of other local banks, I concluded the deal through him – and he remains "loyal" to me during the construction phase and takes over administrative tasks (coincidentally, his office is near my current residence), so the overall service will probably be greater than that of my house bank...

Arg, I forgot something in the 2nd bracket: (of which I have found some, also regarding sums/ independent construction contract control and and and, here in the forum as a consensus - so in my eyes a good and honest advice)

I have only once used the services of an independent financial advisor and am very satisfied; I save around €60,000 through his offer compared to the offers from banks and have better options (e.g., 10% non-acceptance clause).

I am very well taken care of by my financial advisor when it comes to insurance and also my construction financing. Just because I get offers there doesn't mean I naively sign everything. But especially regarding construction financing, I got the best conditions on the market for me there. He also helps me with questions and takes care of a lot of paperwork!

As so often, the chemistry has to be right and you should still educate yourself a bit!

Does anyone have a comparison between an independent financial advisor and the large financing brokers from the internet? What does an independent financial advisor do differently than the large financing brokers Dr. K. and Interhyp?

We had two preliminary meetings on-site with one of the two mentioned below. The only thing that has struck me negatively so far was the very limited time. After exactly one hour, the next customer showed up. So you should be somewhat prepared in order to allow for a targeted consultation.
