Good morning everyone,

I am currently thinking about how to solve the shading issue on my south side (living/dining/kitchen area).

Length = 11m
Terrace depth = approximately 3-4m

Glass roof with an awning underneath is the classic solution, do you have any other ideas?

I am considering whether I will even install blinds on the south side of the ground floor.

Thanks for the exchange! :)

Arm awning is the classic,
[Sonnensegel] is the modern,
[Glasüberdachung] must also be shaded.
It is purely a matter of taste,
take some photos of the house and visit exhibitions, get advice and offers.
There you will get an overview of prices and services.

I have concerns about sun sails becoming unsightly quickly and getting damaged fast if a summer storm with strong winds occurs. Do you have any experience with this?

Glass canopies definitely need to be shaded, otherwise the house will have a double magnifying glass effect.

We had this installed at our place 2 weeks ago:

As soon as there is no sun, you can fully retract it. Then you only have the "frame" left standing. You don't need a wind sensor either. Of course, if you're also looking for protection against rain, this is not a solution. For us, only sun protection was important.

What did you pay for it? I think the solution looks good.

In storms, every system should be secured or retracted,
dirt accumulates on everything,
fabrics come in different qualities,
our sunshade does not get very dirty, it is a water-repellent
coated fabric.
Therefore, go to exhibitions, inform yourselves.
Here there is a thread [KD Überdachungen]
