Exchange building plot with the city? Oyten near Bremen.

Hello everyone!

As you can see, we are new here and quite taken with the community!

My wife and I now want to start the house-building project soon. Now the first problem arises with the search for a plot of land. To possibly spend a little more money on the house itself, we would like to use a plot of land that is already in our possession. The plot is located in Oyten near Bremen. Now the problem is that the city of Oyten does not want to approve the plot for construction because they want to stop urban sprawl in Oyten. On the other hand, they complain that no young new residents are coming to the city.

Now my idea: Do you think it makes sense to get in touch with the city and say, take ours and give us one on which we are allowed to build?

How would you approach this?

What do you have to lose? You don't have a permit anyway ;)

Well, that probably won't be so easy. Building land is in demand, garden land or farmland usually not so much.

I would first try to find out if the head of the building authority is a nice person or rather difficult. In the first case, I would ask for an appointment and inquire where there is still building land available. What is supposed to become building land in the future. Or if there is still a chance for the existing plot.

Otherwise, the only option is to buy and sell on the open market. Nobody will surely trade, unless there is gold or oil hidden somewhere in the garden. ;)
