Electricity and water supply before construction begins?

Hello everyone,

Our construction start is still nowhere in sight since no construction company has been found yet. Nevertheless, I wonder if it makes sense to start developing the land now. We would like to have an outdoor box for electricity, and we actually already know the spot where we want to place it. That shouldn’t really cause any problems, right? We would then have electricity available, and later the house and the electrical box would be "simply" connected? I’m writing it like this now, since I’m not an electrician.

The situation with water is a bit less clear to me. Our neighbor has a small pit in his front yard where the water meter, I believe, was installed frost-free. Can we do the same and then have water already available?

And basically, you save on construction electricity and construction water, apart from consumption. But the consumption should be priced the same.

Hope you can shed some light on this
Or maybe it’s a complete nonsense idea from me after all

Thanks to you.

Hi,
something like that wouldn't be entirely nonsensical, and that's exactly why it won't work...

Joking aside:

In most cases, the municipal utilities won't cooperate. There are also certain security risks because a temporary power box is more easily accessible than the sockets inside your house. And frost is also very bad for a water meter. And if some prankster turns on your water tap at night and it runs for 3 days, that's not good either.

Best regards,

Andreas

Now in summer, I would also have the cable connection included right away. Public viewing in summer has its charm.

So electricity is no problem...you just get a house connection pillar in the garden about 5-6m away from the boundary...other installation locations cost extra...but ask the provider here...everyone has their own regulations on how far and so on.

Our pillar was already in place before a cubic meter of earth was moved.

Water I see as a problem...because of frost protection and tightness...hardly anyone will want to cooperate with that.

Cable connection is a matter of taste...my satellite dish gives a great picture on the projector in the garden...and I am not tied to any provider and don't have to pay anything extra monthly or whatever for it...except for [GEZ] of course

Well, the water meter will of course be installed frost-free, that’s clear. But you’re right, if someone turns on the tap, that’s less than ideal.
Regarding electricity, I’m not talking about a temporary power box, but a proper house connection box or whatever those white things are called. That one can be locked. My property is also fenced off, and if some crook wants to break in at night, they can do that even if the house is already built.
So it’s not about a temporary power box.
