Hello everyone,

does anyone have experience with the company Eco-House?
The company advertises passive houses with ecological building materials.
The materials are mainly made of wood and a heat pump is used for heating the indoor air.
What makes me think are two points:
- How is the sound insulation in a wooden house? I was able to look at a show house and it did not seem too loud to me. But in such a show house, they install all sorts of things that normally cost a lot of money.
- Is it not quickly too warm in summer in such an insulated house?

Thank you very much in advance for the answers.

Kira

Hello KiraS,

there are quite a few things to consider with the Passive House, which would go beyond the scope here.

The soundproofing can be proven, pay attention to the Rw values of the components and ask to see a soundproofing certificate.

For insulation, for example, the exterior wall should have a U value of less than 0.10 W/m2K, and summer heating can be controlled by appropriate shading of the windows. Exterior blinds and roller shutters are necessary here to avoid thermal bridges in the exterior walls.

With ventilation heating, you have to consider that the same temperature is generated throughout the house, for example, bedroom, kitchen, bathroom 22°. This is certainly not to everyone's taste.

Hello,

this does not mean an air-to-water heat pump, does it?

The ventilation system with heat recovery will already do its part.

Best regards

Thank you very much...

I wanted to thank you for the responses.
This allowed us to address the points with the seller from Eco-House and gather more detailed information.
I had misunderstood something because we are getting underfloor heating and not air heating. The heat pump only uses the room air to extract energy.
And regarding thermal insulation, the seller also said that the windows will have external blinds and that the wall itself is very good due to heavy materials. The family from the show house also confirmed that to me.
We have now decided on such a Solaris house. Maybe I will report on our real experiences next year.

Until then
Kira

Hello Kira,

the seller's answers raise more questions for me, as they are completely nonsensical.

The heat pump only takes the room air for energy generation.

That is done by the heat recovery of the ventilation system, not the heat pump.
Or does the seller want to sell a perpetual motion machine :D

However, I fear that he wants to push an air heat pump on you!

And regarding the thermal insulation, the seller also said that the windows will get external blinds and the wall itself is very good due to heavy materials.

The heat pump is a refrigeration machine, so it is absolutely no problem to air-condition together with the ventilation system.

The windows themselves should already have a corresponding U-value.
What is this?

That heavy material is very good for thermal insulation is nonsense.
More for soundproofing, but here the question would be which material and what U-value the wall has.

The company advertises passive houses with ecological building materials.

Just because a company advertises this does not necessarily mean it is true.
If it is the company Eco-House International GmbH, I would be very skeptical, because the information on the homepage is outdated and incorrect. It still talks about Kfw40, which has not existed for years, and with the specification Kfw55 they probably want to create the impression that it is built according to the current Energy Saving Ordinance 2009, but in fact it is the Energy Saving Ordinance 2007.

Best regards

About the company Eco-House International GmbH!

The heating system in the solaris KfW-Efficiency House 55 standard is based on a resource-saving air-to-water heat pump.

There is no other type of heat pump that is more uneconomical than an air-to-water heat pump. See 2-year field trial in Lahr.

The heating system can be supplemented by a photovoltaic or solar thermal system.

How stupid do they actually think the builders are, since when does a photovoltaic system supplement the heating!
Aha, and they also offer fuel cells,...

U-wall <= 0.15 W/m²K
U-window = 1.2 W/m²K for an extra charge 0.77 W/m²K

Only in the very well insulated low-energy house does a ventilation system with heat recovery and reheating of the supply air become interesting, since here the air volumes for heating and ventilation align. Temperature control of the incoming air from ventilation systems with heat recovery is possible through room-wise arranged reheating registers.

The above values do not correspond to a passive house.
