Hello everyone,
At the moment, my ground worker is excavating the construction pit and plans to compact and pile gravel + crushed stone next week.
For us, night temperatures between -2 and -7 degrees are forecasted for next week, and daytime temperatures between 0 and 5 degrees.
I have read on the internet that compaction cannot be done properly during frost and that this may have an impact on the structure later (settlements).
Should I ask the ground worker to wait with the work until it is frost-free at night, or what would you recommend? Are there measures he can take to ensure everything is properly compacted?
If he compacts this week and also compacts the gravel + crushed stone on top, would that be okay for the load-bearing capacity?
Thank you all.
