Hello,

The screed has been lying for a week and the underfloor heating for drying has now been turned on. Dehumidifiers are also in use. Insulation was done with mineral insulation, and it is plastered on both the outside and inside.

Now we are afraid that it is drying too quickly. Is this usual? We don't want mold to be caused.

Thank you

Hello

Sorry, the dehumidifier is not in use. It is supposed to be put into operation.

To my knowledge, that is much too early. Recently, we have had quite a bit of discussion here about [Estrichtrockung]. It should dry naturally with shock ventilation for two weeks, then with further measures.

Why mold? The risk is that the screed cracks or cups due to improper drying. With incorrect drying, it can also happen that it does not dry at all from the inside, because the surface no longer allows moisture in and therefore cannot evaporate from the bottom up. This problem probably won’t occur with you because you are heating from below. Still... I am just an amateur. It also depends on the screed itself, whether it is concrete or something else with some additives...

Hello

and with interior plaster the same thing, that we don't have to worry about it? As I said, the construction dryer should come later, if at all....

Yes, in my opinion you do have to have concerns... but nobody here understands me today (one) (or I'm missing the point ;)), so let's hope for other comments :D

Why should a construction dryer be used at all? Usually, the screed program of the underfloor heating is sufficient. Besides, the weather outside is currently the nicest. I would not use the construction dryer.
