Hello everyone,

I want to attach roof rafters to my shed. The front wall is mostly made of bricks and those gray hollow blocks. It is an older shed that I now just want to reroof. To get the masonry edge straight, I built up 5 cm aerated concrete. On the other side, a 24 cm aerated concrete block. My question: I want to fasten the roof rafters with brackets. Can I simply drill into the aerated concrete and secure the rafters with plugs and screws, or will that not hold?
With the front wall, I also have the problem that the aerated concrete block is only 5 cm thick and behind it is a hollow block. Neither screws nor plugs will have much hold there. Do you have any ideas?
Thanks to you.

How about taking a look at the common anchor manufacturers? Normally, there are overviews available there

In the 24 aerated concrete, you can actually drill/screw quite normally. However, I would tend to drill 1/2 mm smaller so that the plug fits a bit tighter.

On the other hand, you would almost have to use cavity anchors.

There are Fischer Duopower anchors which, according to the description, are supposed to work for both cavity and solid material.

I myself have not tested this yet...
