Hello,

I plan to put a dresser in our bathroom. However, the dresser at the planned location might occasionally get wet at the bottom. Could this cause mold to develop?

Hope this is not a problem...

Hi,

"Normal" dressers do not belong in the bathroom. They are usually made of particle board with foil or wood veneer. Therefore, if they are exposed to moisture, they will soften sooner or later. Even if you are meticulous about keeping them dry, the high humidity during showering or bathing is usually enough.

Proper bathroom furniture is better. Although they also have a particle board core, they are better glued and usually stand on higher legs.

We have additionally coated our bathroom furniture with a protective layer that is supposed to help prevent moisture penetration and especially to prevent mold. So far, it is working wonderfully.

Exactly, if you don't put bathroom furniture or don't specially treat the normal one, it will start to mold sooner or later. Just one warm shower is enough for moisture to be in the bathroom.
