Hello everyone I bought a house 6 months ago and everything is tiptop. but something is worrying me otherwise I wouldn’t be writing here.
The house is 20 years young and built tiptop. only the basement lies below the sewage system and we therefore have to pump gray water into the sewage system with a pump which is in the basement. Now this shaft in the basement is also filled by the drainage around the house. since the house is built on a slope under a field and the soil is very loamy, almost 5000 L/h come into our basement through the drainage during heavy rainfall. The pump has to turn on quite often but has no problems with the water. until of course it breaks down or there is a power outage... and that scares me a little.
What do you think of my idea to lay a second drainage pipe about 1 meter in front of the house and at about 1 meter depth? (I have to check where the water vein in the loamy soil is.) I could lead this 2nd drainage into the sewage system without a pump. and hopefully I would have less water coming into the basement.
Now another question: is it enough to fill the finished trench with the pipe with gravel? does the water also get into the drainage? or should I consider something so that the water does not just flow past it?
Or do you have another idea?
Digging up the 1st drainage is hardly possible since it is almost 3 meters deep in the ground and the space conditions are tight.
