We have a door to the living room, which we actually don't want to have standing in the room there. You could lean the door almost 180 degrees, but switches, etc. are supposed to go in that spot. Therefore, either a sliding door or the door should open into the hallway.
For me, it has always been clear that if a door opens, it should open into the room. By the way, the door would mostly stand open.
The consultant from the house building company said he would rather have the door open into the hallway. It stands open most of the time anyway and does not disturb in the hallway. Also, the side of a door that does not open would look more appealing visually because of the door frame, so you would see that from the living room.
The door would, as I said, mostly stand open and we would only close it in the evening when we watch a movie a little louder. I can of course leave a sliding door open just as well. Constructively, if it is supposed to disappear into the wall, it is naturally a bit more complex and prone to maintenance.
On the other hand, without being able to justify it, I find a door to the hallway odd. Our house building consultant would do it that way and my wife also likes the door to the hallway. What do you think?
