Does the mezzanine cause high costs?

Hello everyone!

I am new here.. since we want to start building in about a year, we have already dealt a little with the topic this year.
My wife and I agree quite well on how the house should look, how big it should be, etc.
However, there is still a problem. We looked at the house we want to build approximately in a [Fertighauspark].
Now my wife thinks (because of her father) that the mezzanine could be significantly more expensive than a closed second floor.

Has anyone here already had experience with whether mezzanines cause much higher construction costs?

I would be very grateful for any tips!

Regards

Hello Enterprise fan,

The prospective father-in-law is right; to create intermediate decks, more measures must be taken due to the statics (stability) than with a closed ceiling, which normally rests on the interior walls, or - if the room below is too large - on additional supports, which are invisibly built into the masonry; sometimes with very large rooms concrete pillars in the room itself cannot be avoided.

Depending on the size and character of the house (how the levels are planned, etc.) you have to calculate additional costs in the range of 10-30% of the house price; not for a tight budget

Kind regards
