Hello everyone,

We have recently become proud owners of a house. To be precise, we bought an existing property built in 1974. Now, the renovation work can begin.

One topic is the heating system.
The gas system in the basement dates from 1985 and will of course be replaced.
The heating engineer told us that the system is a single-pipe system. Since I have no knowledge of this at all, I started researching.

After comparing the piping diagram and the findings I gathered from the internet, I am doubting this statement.

I have attached the piping diagram of our system.

I would appreciate your opinion regarding single-pipe or two-pipe system.

Best regards
Benne

Morning Benne

if it was built exactly as drawn, it is a two-pipe system.

Hello Oli,

thank you for your reply.

As it sounds to me, there can apparently be deviations between the scheme and the actual execution. Is there a way to determine on the system whether it is a single-pipe or two-pipe system?

That should be recognizable at the connections of the radiators.
If the supply and return are connected individually to the radiator, it is definitely two-pipe.
With compact connection fittings, both are possible.
Just show a picture of it.
