Hello,
Before you start thinking about whether the property counts as equity – which it undoubtedly does – you should first find out whether you are even allowed to connect a two-story building to the existing structure after demolishing the barn. The responsible city/municipal building planning office will provide information on this for you.
Rhenish greetings
My wife and I live together with my mother-in-law in an old residential building with an attached barn. We want to tear down the barn (approx. 100 m² floor area) and in its place build a simple, two-story new building and connect it to the old house.
