Does a ventilation system also filter asbestos safely from the air?

There are two garages on the neighboring properties that have asbestos roofing. In addition, one of the neighbors stores his wood under a few sheets. These are 10 and 5 meters in a straight line from our ventilation system. The sheets are not significantly broken or anything like that; we also have an ePM1 70% (F7) and ePM10 50% (M5) filter in the system, which should even filter fibers under 0.1 µm – asbestos fibers are said to be in the < 3 µm range according to the internet. Nevertheless, I wanted to ask whether there might still be a risk of exposure here? Filters do not always filter 100%, so sometimes we also notice a slight smell of smoke when there is a lot of heating.

Asbestos is absolutely no problem as long as you do not damage the asbestos panels. And even if your neighbor cuts the panels, it should be so well diluted outside. The cozy barbecue evening with real fire is definitely much more dangerous.

I am amazed at how easily asbestos boards can be identified. I see no problem here. If your information is correct, the filters should be able to handle it if necessary.

Your question is wrongly phrased. It should be: Are those asbestos boards at my neighbor’s place? If yes, are they dangerous for me?

The answer to that is: No idea what kind of boards those are. If they are asbestos boards, there is no danger. Bound asbestos is harmless. Just as many fibers loosen themselves as metal or ceramic fibers do from your washbasin fittings and washbasins.

The filter in the ventilation system doesn’t matter. Even if you sit outside, it doesn’t matter.
