Hello dear house building community,

our house was erected by a regional house building company just under 2 weeks ago. So far, we have been very satisfied. Now we would like to ask for your opinions on whether we are being too picky or if this actually constitutes a cosmetic flaw... We have visible, whitewashed board stack ceilings throughout the entire house. Especially on the ground floor, there were unsightly discolorations and grooves on the surface. The discolorations have now been sanded off, but the difference compared to the surrounding ceiling is very noticeable. The grooves are still there. What do you think? Should we live with it or insist on possibly sanding the entire ceiling on the ground floor? Here are a few pictures so you can see what we are talking about...

Hello,

are these really BSH ceilings? The grain in the pictures suggest otherwise?!
I only know elements that are max. 3x9m in size. In that case, such grain
would not be visible?

Did you definitely order [Sichqualität]?

How are you supposed to sand out such grooves over a large area? I imagine that
to be almost impossible. Grooves in solid wood are moistened, the fibers straighten
out a bit again, then it is sanded. Possibly repeated several times.

To me, this looks like standard "industrial quality" (we order that too,
but we will probably leave the ceilings without [GK], so visible).

Lamella timber ceiling is offered by us. Unfortunately, not the word "Sichtqualität", as we just realized, but "lamella timber ceiling visible". This can certainly be interpreted more "generously" and possibly use industrial quality.

And what do you think about the discolorations? Will they even out over time or will there always be a visible difference?

So you are also currently building and ordering the ceiling in industrial quality and leaving it visible. OK. In that case, do you have to expect such scratches?
