Hello everyone

I need your assessment regarding the placement of the outdoor air and exhaust air outlets of our planned centralized controlled residential ventilation system.
Dimplex recommends maintaining a minimum distance of 2.5m between the two grilles to avoid an air short circuit. Alternatively, there is a double-wall grille where the connections are close to each other, but the special grille blows air downward in different directions.

Our planned distance between the two is about 60cm. I spoke to our craftsman about this, and he said that the double grille blows air in different directions and is even closer together, or two single grilles with some distance in between.

Are there any specialists among you who are familiar with this topic?

Best regards

The manufacturers do not provide the guidelines just because they feel like it. 2m has always been a rough rule of thumb. But if the manufacturer already specifies 2.5m, then one should adhere to that.

Yes, I think so too, what surprises me is that the manufacturers very often offer this double-wall grille, which simply blows out in different directions. I am not an air flow specialist, but I cannot imagine that such a double-wall grille avoids air mixing just because it blows out in different directions.

What kind of assessment do you need for that, make a clear statement that he has to follow the manufacturer's specifications and that's it, or do you want to breathe your own air.

Can't you work around the corner?

Thank you very much for your feedback. Unfortunately, working around the corner is not possible because we have the outlets in the garage, and the space conditions there do not allow it.

Look at the Vallox grille. It blows almost in the same direction and is right next to the intake opening. Still, there is no short circuit. So either use grilles specifically matched for this purpose or build according to the manufacturer's specifications.
