Hello,

I have already asked the question in another forum and hope that maybe someone knows something.

We are looking for beautiful leather furniture and have found several brands. The furniture is similar and very nice, but the prices vary greatly. We would like to know exactly what the differences are. Such a couch is quite an investment and we just wanted to hear experiences from others as well.

Thank you in advance. :)

Hello Dania,

The differences lie in the quality of the materials used and in the creativity of the companies. DeSede and Rolf Benz, for example, develop their own designs, sometimes commission well-known designers; this originality costs money. Another, cheaper supplier offers sofas and armchairs that can be described as imitations, some, especially the classics, are simply copied from the "expensive" ones.

The construction of leather furniture, the leather used, the tanning and coloring of the leather, the upholstery, the execution of the steel parts, the screws... all of this can be produced simply, "cheaply" – or more elaborately and expensively (and more durable).

Hello Hertweck,

thank you very much for the reply. That already clarifies a lot. Our budget would be enough to buy, for example, a Schillig model. We are a bit skeptical about the durability of the cheaper providers. And our piggy bank doesn't have enough for a Rolf Benz. Is the price/performance ratio balanced at W. Schillig? Maybe we could already narrow down the selection there ... Our couch is not falling apart yet, but soon we need something new. :D

Hello again,

W.Schillig is considered high-quality but comparatively expensive, but it is said to be worth the money. Unfortunately, I do not have any personal experience with it.
