There is not "much to understand" here?
Look at the other profiles and you will notice that even "older" users have completed the missing information; quite a few without a reminder! Besides, there is a lot of leeway, both in terms of profession or place of residence. The only condition: both must correspond to the truth. But whether you state, for example, 'merchant' or 'clerk', 'Heringen' or 'Nordhausen', is up to you if you believe that an exact specification could harm you (where I only see a few occupational groups as critical in terms of self-promotion and will naturally address that).
We did not introduce the changes in the profile information to annoy the members; what would be the point of that? And if the objection regarding data protection should suddenly arise in your mind: then you must not make your IP accessible to anyone.
However, it helps the responding users immensely with providing assistance; also, a thread starter can better assess an answer if the profession of the responding user is clearly visible. See especially questions around finance or law; an answer regarding sanitation also offers more substance if the responding user works in that field.
And finally – I think I can also write here for Yvonne (ypg): we have other hobbies than discussing forum rules with the same type of users over and over again. You are free to accept them or not; but then in all consequences.
Rhenish greetings
