Hello everyone,

I am planning a new building, on my property there is an old building.

It was planned that the new building would be placed further to the north and the old building in the front would be demolished.

The building is approximately from 1900 and has about 150 sqm.

The basement is damp, the water presses from below.

The house was heated with oil.

The ground floor looks okay, but the basement and upper floor would still need quite a bit of work.

What definitely needs to be renewed:
- Windows
- Electrical
- New radiators
- New oil boiler?
- All floors
- All walls
- Possibly roof work
Approximately 50-60k?

Under certain circumstances, the old building can remain there without demolition (I do not want to go into detail here).

One thought of mine:
- The garages & extension would be removed from the old building and my parents would move into the old building after renovation, they are looking for a new place in a few months. The entrance would then be on the northeast side.
My father would financially help me and would also receive rent, I estimate the old building at about 145 sqm.

If one day my parents are no longer there, then demolition could take place.

What is your assessment, I have uploaded some pictures, a few architects have already been in the building, but were unsure.

I find the idea absurd to invest 60k now and then tear down the house years later.

So you don't want to live there but only your parents?

Yep.... intended for my parents.

Maybe I also have to put in less, an acquaintance estimated the costs at about 40k (civil engineer)......... later it will probably be after 20-30 years.
Would get at least €700 rent.

Hello tumaa
60 thousand euros are quickly spent. The house has potential, but a lot needs to be invested. Is it worth it? Either renovate properly and keep it later, or get rid of it right away. If your parents want to live near you, there is surely another solution. Condominium or rent around the corner.
