Hello, we have been living in the new house since 2016 and have now had paving done in front of the house. However, the consideration for income tax (entry of exemption amount) was rejected with the reason of new construction measure. Is an objection worthwhile?

Tax consulting is reserved for tax advisors. Therefore, presumably no one here is allowed to give you advice or recommendations.

In this situation, I would consult a tax advisor who should, ideally, also write the objection directly. The keyword remains: household-related service. (you probably tried that), but maybe you have to help the caseworker to their benefit.

Just google how much time must pass between purchase and service. I think it's one year. It should be easy to find.

I don't know if that is recorded as a tax allowance, but you can definitely claim the labor costs (no material) as craftsman services in the tax return.

Are you referring to the €1,200 (€6,000) craftsman costs that you want to deduct? If so, that should be possible from the move-in date. At least that’s my understanding. I need to check if there has been any BFH ruling on this after 2011 [emoji848]

I did exactly the same, moved in January 2016 and had paving done in June.

However, the labor costs of 4,000 euros were declared as craftsman services and 20% (800 euros) were refunded. The same with the electrical work in the garage and the carport as well as the installation of the lightning conductor.

All in all, the full 1,200 euros were utilized.
