Hello,

we are currently planning our house. My fiancée still pursues a secondary occupation ([Kleingewerbe]) (makeup artist). For this, we have designated a workroom in our house.
Can costs incurred so far be partially deducted through the payroll tax statement?

Thanks for your assessments.

To my knowledge, you cannot claim the costs for building the home office as a tax deduction, otherwise it would essentially be business assets. However, later you can claim the costs for the room on the tax return for the secondary business – provided that taxes are paid there. But what I actually wanted to say is: your tax advisor can give you precise answers about what you need to pay attention to and within what scope this can be included.

Theoretically, no one here is allowed to give you advice on this. Tax advice should and may only be provided by professionals. The prohibition also applies to forums. I wouldn’t listen to any advice possibly written here either. Keyword: dangerous half-knowledge. You should only listen to one piece of advice: take 200 euros, find a tax advisor, and get advice on this. And do yourself a favor, steer clear of the [Lohnsteuerhilfeverein] ;-) sorry, had to say that. But regarding the future business, the issue with the [LoHi-Verein] is settled anyway. Have a nice evening

Tax consultant

There are possibilities to allocate the home office to business assets.
With advantages and disadvantages

There are possibilities to claim ongoing expenses if the requirements are met.

In the case of secondary employment, do not lose sight of the hobby status and the future. Full-time employment or giving up with children

Businesslike... businesslike...
We are not "businesslike" with our various professional groups and therefore are simply allowed to share our opinions.

And that is why our tips as private individuals are also marked with, for example,

Or also “in my opinion” or “to the best of my knowledge.”

That tax advisors, lawyers, etc. are not allowed to do this in public, etc., is well known.
