Hello
We are buying an Okal Haus prefab house from 1974 and I have a few questions, as I have found enough information on the internet but can’t really decide on anything.
1. We want to build walls inside but we don’t know which bricks are really good. It is important to us that cabinets can be securely attached to the wall without having to drill huge holes because the brick is too soft like in our current apartment. It should also have good sound insulation properties.
Regarding thermal insulation, we come rather to question 2.
We are not sure yet whether we should also build walls from the outside or replace the existing wooden house insulation with new products. Regardless of whether building walls or new insulation, we would simply like opinions or recommendations/experience (which materials are good and which are less so), preferably with reasons where the advantages lie, etc.
3. We would be interested in what you generally think of exterior insulation since we recently saw a report where exterior insulation forms algae over time and the exterior facade becomes discolored in places.
That this works is beyond question, but there are so many products that we can’t really keep up and don’t want to buy "junk".
We would appreciate ideas, experiences, and alternatives for our renovation.
Please do not discuss in this post why prefab houses or solid houses, etc. – only information regarding the questions so that the overview of the post is not lost.
Thank you very much for your effort
