Hello,

a question about decentralized ventilation with heat recovery. Suppose I install an approved device with heat recovery in the bathroom. The exhaust air goes outside through a wall duct.

Doesn't the extracted moist air normally condense in the pipe, and then the condensate runs over the exterior cover down the facade??

Does anyone have a decentralized controlled residential ventilation with heat recovery in the bathroom in operation? Please write to me if you have ever had such problems, or what happens with the condensate...

Thank you!

contacted the manufacturer a week ago. my question was how the condensation formation in the device's exhaust pipe can be prevented. they even advertise that the device operates without condensation. of course, they don’t say how that works... unfortunately, no response so far.

Hello,

I have been working very well with a Berlin provider for several years. He writes about it:

The demand-oriented control of the exhaust fans was equipped for the first time with a humidity-temperature sensor. This innovative control automatically adjusts the fan level according to the ventilation requirement: depending on the relative humidity, the volume flow increases or decreases. This way, always as much ventilation as necessary and as little as possible takes place. The sensor, which is integrated in the intake area of the exhaust fan, detects the temperature as well as the humidity content of the exhaust air volume flow. Since the fan is installed in the bathroom or WC and different indoor air conditions occur there compared to the living area, an adjusted fan control adapted to the indoor air conditions in the living area is achieved by simultaneous evaluation of temperature and humidity: Therefore, the control considers not only the need in the bathroom but also that of the living rooms and effectively protects against moisture damage and mold formation. The automatic annual time switch automatically sets the fan to the lowest level in summer and in the transitional period and back to humidity control in winter.

Best regards from the Rhineland

Hello construction expert, thank you for the response! This manufacturer starts with "L," right? I will check that out. Wishing you a nice weekend!

I know it like this: there is a kind of "nozzle" on the outside of the house, so that the pipe outlet does not end directly at the facade, but hangs a little piece in the air. Condensate (which should form with every decentralized ventilation system with heat recovery, from a physical point of view) then drips down a bit away from the facade due to a corresponding edge. Usually, wind also does not press the drops against the house wall (because the wind has to "turn off" shortly before the wall).
