After the completion of the construction of my single-family house in 2014, cracks appeared relatively soon inside, affecting the exterior walls.
In case the question arises, we have the following floor structure:
1 cm laminate
5.5 cm calcium sulfate poured screed
PE foil
2.5 cm EPS 035DES
6.0 cm EPS 035DEO
0.5 cm bitumen roofing membrane
16 cm reinforced concrete slab C25/30
PE foil
5 cm perimeter insulation WLG 035
PE foil
Gravel
The walls are made of 36.5 PPW2-0.35 0.08 w/mK
The interior plaster is without mesh (yep, a defect!)
The exterior plaster is properly done.
I could not detect any cracks in the exterior plaster.
Due to the fact that the interior plaster is without mesh and there are no cracks visible in the exterior plaster, I have so far assumed that it can only be an optical defect.
Basically, if the interior plaster were properly done, we wouldn’t even notice the small underlying cracks.
I inspected one of the two most severe cracks with a thin knife; I can push it/stab it deeper into the wall —> see pictures.
All four exterior walls are affected, more so on the ground floor but also a few cracks on the upper floor.
What do you think?
