Hello,
since I only just rediscovered this forum (completely forgot, although it was very, very useful to me before!). Straight away a question: I have a Dätid extractor hood in my open kitchen. So far, I have been using it with recirculation. However, I also have the flexible duct for it lying in the basement and there is an exhaust to the outside, i.e. there is already a hole in the wall and currently there is just a normal wall vent like the ones you usually have in the bathroom in front of it. Problem No. 1: that thing looks like a bathroom vent, so ugly, you can see it from the sofa. Problem 2: this outlet to the outside is not directly above the stove, but about 2 meters away in the wall at about 2 meters height. Of course, I thought of exhaust ventilation when setting up the kitchen and we had already connected the flexible duct. BUT: the duct is visible from the living area if I just lay it on top of the wall cabinets, plus there would still be about an 80 cm long distance to bridge where there is no wall cabinet, so it would basically just "dangle" freely. That's why we took it down again and I have been satisfied with recirculation so far.
Now I saw at a friend’s place that she has a stainless steel cover around this duct that runs along the wall to the opening outside. The extractor is also from Ikea; where this cover comes from is not known, as it was already like that in her apartment when she moved in.
Does anyone of you 1. have an idea how I can implement something like this and 2. do you know where to get something like this/make it? Ikea definitely does not have this. I once asked at a normal kitchen store; they tried to tell me that I would have to buy a complete exhaust hood from them, it wouldn’t be available separately, price starting from 1000 euros up.
