Counter battens and carrying battens wooden facade

can someone tell me if there is a general recommendation for the material for the counter battens and support battens for a wooden facade:

currently planned:
counter battens vertical 40x60 mm
support battens horizontal 30x50 mm
open wooden cladding vertical 100x20 mm, Siberian larch, approx. 10 mm gap

what I am not sure about:
rough sawn or planed?
battens spruce or more weather-resistant wood Douglas fir/larch
paint the support battens black or not?

The finish is a matter of taste. Spruce is sufficient if it stays dry. Color is a matter of taste - I wouldn't choose black, it shouldn't be visible anyway.

I used larch in rough sawn and [UK] in untreated spruce/fir. I fastened the larch with stainless steel screws. The [UK] (in my case partly beams) with galvanized screws, where I painted the heads with spray paint (against rust). After 14 years I am still satisfied and would do it the same way again.

Do you have a similar picture of your project? I prefer rough-sawn boards; you should paint the battens like the foil behind them, I think, at least on the open joints. For us, it will be similar, also open, gray boarding. But so far it's only roughly planned in my mind.
