Hello dear forum community,

according to the current status of our planning, we want to use the attic of our future single-family house fully as soon as possible. For this purpose, we have already planned to extend the regular half-spiral staircase up to the attic.

Since our stairwell now goes up to the attic, this is included in the thermal envelope, so from an energy perspective, at least regarding insulation, we can no longer delay the attic conversion arbitrarily – right?

For the conversion itself, we now have the following offer from the general contractor:

· Roof slopes in the attic completely insulated (200 mm) and clad including wall + 1 interior door 4,300 €
· Attic heated, 1 radiator 850 €
· Attic completely covered with tongue-and-groove boards 1,200 €

My question: If we were to carry out these items wholly or partially as do-it-yourself work shortly after moving in, what would be the estimated savings potential? And how much time would we have to spend as laypersons for such work, approximately?

It would be great to hear your experiences/opinions on this.

Thank you very much,

Kazazi
