Hello,
we are building with a basement; a prefabricated basement is (or was) installed.
The side walls and ceiling parts were delivered as precast concrete parts and lifted into the correct position with a crane.
In the construction start-up meeting, it was noted that instead of the 50t crane, an 80t crane might be necessary, "clarity only after inspection by the crane company."
Important, because the flat rate price only includes a 50t crane!
For me, it was already unclear back then why a larger crane would be necessary, since the crane comes quite close to the floor slab.
In fact, it was 6.50m away from the floor slab, but it could have easily driven to within 4 meters of the floor slab. (which is rather a "normal" distance for a crane to the floor slab, or is it "standard" that such a crane (with a 6m wide boom!) must be able to drive up to 2m to a floor slab?)
Presumably, the basement builder did not care about the crane size because we, as the builders, have to pay these additional costs.
The crane company does not want to comment to me, as I was not the client (that is the basement company).
Also, we were not informed of the result of the "inspection" beforehand. Rather, after the basement installation, a supplement was urgently sent by email requesting confirmation of these costs as soon as possible because the basement installation was planned for the end of March (?! But the basement has already been standing for a day!!).
The foreman also said that the large 80t crane was necessary because the basement walls were so heavy, and not because of the length of the required crane boom.
Is there anyone here who is familiar with 50t or 80t cranes and can or wants to "assess" the construction site (aerial photo available with floor slab and crane)?
After all, it's about 4,000 euros being claimed...
