Hello,

we would like a corner bench in the dining area. These are generally not the focus of furniture manufacturers and in the furniture stores we have visited so far, the target group already seems to be of retirement age. In other words, the designs do not really appeal to us.

Basically, we are looking for a corner bench preferably or compatible with the country style. There are some offers online, but we would like to try out such a bench beforehand. Price-wise, we are thinking of something up to €1000, if it is an exceptionally great piece, up to a maximum of €2000.

From the in-laws we know of one made from rattan with a dark leather cover. Because of the rattan, it would definitely be visually included in the selection. Dark leather is a question, if the rest (kitchen) will rather be white. Alternatively, we have seen at Ikea that they have installed kitchen base cabinets at seat height around the corner and lined them with cushions. The local kitchen supplier said he had done that himself before and thinks it’s quite good. The advantage here is that there is additional storage space. However, that would be more of a makeshift solution because without a proper backrest, which would still have to be somehow mounted/created by ourselves.

My question to you now: have you ever seen beautiful corner benches in the country style in a furniture store or elsewhere? Or does anyone also have such a corner bench made from kitchen cabinets? How did you realize the backrest?

Thank you very much.

How about the carpenter of your choice? With the "special" wishes you have, something custom-made would be much better.

Asked a carpenter once, he gave a quote of 5000 including table and chairs. But what exactly is "special" for us? I just don’t want some granny bench from 1850 or the ultra-modern high-gloss furniture.

I am also with RobsonMKK and would highly recommend the carpenter to you (we ourselves have had good experiences with other furniture). And I think if you want quality with some value, it will also cost you the corresponding price at the furniture store and not be significantly cheaper than the carpenter.

That was not meant negatively. But as you yourself have noted, many things in this style are rather old-fashioned. Or priced in a league you don’t want to pay. Furthermore, the style is not very widespread, but you are planning it very consistently (see front door). So special in the sense of "something different, not everyday."

Yes, that is correct, but that's precisely why I am asking here in the hope that someone has found a different range. And I have already mentioned two alternatives, which would then take priority, even if they are not 100% in line with our expectations. Thank you for the tip about the carpenter, but probably not within our price range. The same applies to the front door. We have one option, but I am looking for other alternatives that are not known to me for spatial reasons. Therefore this forum, to reach others from different parts of the country with different knowledge. When we have the appointment with a carpenter later, I will address both issues.
