Cooking plate - isn't a silicone seal & co. applied here?

Good morning,

some time ago my kitchen was installed. Only now have I noticed that various small items accumulate between the stove top, which does not sit flush on the sides on the countertop, and the countertop.

Is this normal or was the kitchen installation done sloppily?

Hello, a cooktop is never glued in with silicone. Unfortunately, it is now common for the frame to have about a millimeter of space from the countertop.

Hello, thank you for your response. What do you do to prevent things from accumulating in the gap that don’t belong there?

One simply ignores all the dirt that doesn't come off by wiping.
