My old building is supposed to get new windows. I have already spoken with several window manufacturers and all want to install the windows with expanding foam & silicone. However, I heard from a friend who is a craftsman that this method is no longer state of the art. Nowadays, sealing tapes are used. When asked about this, the window manufacturer said that sealing tapes are only possible in new buildings; in old buildings they cannot be used because of the crooked reveals. Who is right?

You can also use sealing tapes or cords in old buildings; they come in different widths. Nowadays, there are also sealing foams approved for window installation; it is therefore important that the window installer uses a foam approved for the application "window installation," not just any construction foam.
