Concrete paving hydrophobization hydrophobic treatment

I want to lay gray standard rectangular paving stones. Is it worth treating the paving stones with a hydrophobic coating immediately after laying them?

The goal is for the stones to not get dirty as quickly on the one hand and to be easier to clean on the other.
- Has anyone had long-term experience with this?
- How often does the hydrophobic coating need to be refreshed to be effective?

That's simply nonsense! Leave the stones as they are! After a few years they will get dirty/unsightly. There is an attachment for the yellow high-pressure cleaner that cleans that.

I have not had good experiences cleaning concrete paving with the Kärcher. The paving was initially clean, but afterwards the dirt only progressed faster. I would not necessarily do that again.

Exactly that is what our landscape gardener also told us about pressure washing. He says root brushing and scrubbing is the best method.

Hydrophobizing a horizontal surface can also have the disadvantage of water freezing on the surface in winter. At least when a strong beading effect is present.

I also plan to hydrophobize a vertical surface to minimize frost-thaw damage. A hydrophobized wall also has the advantage that much less green growth, etc. forms.
