The coalition leaders have agreed on significantly more money for energy-efficient building refurbishment. From 2012 to 2014, there will be 1.5 billion euros per year.

The Union and FDP gave the green light on Sunday evening at a meeting in the Chancellery. Earlier in the week, the coalition experts and the responsible ministries had already reached an agreement. In addition, the government wants to achieve a consensus with the states to enable tax deductibility of energy-efficient refurbishments.

The funding amount, initially limited to 900 million euros, is now to be increased accordingly through reallocations in the Energy and Climate Fund. Important projects for the energy transition are financed from the fund.

The 1.5 billion euros had originally been planned. However, due to missing revenues from the trading of CO2 emission allowances, support for energy-efficient refurbishments had been reduced. Now citizens are to gain planning security.

Thanks for the info! But it would also be nice if actions would follow after all the words. Since late summer 2011, there have been talks about tax incentives for energy-efficient renovations. So far, nothing has come of it. Last negotiation in the mediation committee on 08.02.2012 ended without results. No new negotiation date is known to this day. And if the hurdles are set as high as in the last draft law, it is all for nothing anyway. Older building owners who want to energetically renovate their houses will probably be left empty-handed again. Regards
