Good evening!

1. We would greatly appreciate your feedback regarding the question of whether it makes sense to close off the stairwell vertically for a small staircase or not. What is nicer, better, uglier, snootier, and above all cooler?

2. The open stairwell measures 68cm x 47cm.

3. When closed, the interior of the stairwell with the floor is 45cm x 36cm. Here, one could install (or have installed) a built-in cabinet.

4. Do you have photos of closed stairwells? Perhaps even with a cabinet or shelves?

Closed:

Thanks to you!

Open is more generous. Then you can also transport a couch sometimes, because you can carry the corners diagonally across the terrain. With walls around three corners, that's not possible - only through the window or with your own setup.

Thank you for your assessment ! We are a bit scared with the open stairwell because of our crazy cliffhanger kids.

Our kids survived the open stairwell in the row house. The washing machine was in the basement. Below in the stairwell was the laundry basket. It was quite practical. And we greatly benefited from the transport facilitation that mentioned.

Hi,
I've never heard "Treppenauge" before, but I can guess what you mean.
So, I'd leave it open.

How many floors do you have?
If the kids are still very small, you can temporarily install safety nets (like in prison).
When they're bigger, you can take them down.
Well, the nets, not the kids...

Cheers, Olli
