Clearance at the central purlin-collar beam junction (gable roof)

I have a gap, practically air, within the insulation.
Is this problematic?

If the collar beam level is insulated, I wouldn't know why one should insulate further above it. In other words: I would stop the rafter insulation at this height.

this was done this way because the helpers had already done it this way themselves.
Now I am questioning that.
Can the clearance cause harm?

Why should that be harmful, the free space is outside the thermal envelope. That the insulation of the slope was extended up to above the ridge beam may have the advantage that if the attic is later converted, it can be continued there again.
