Clad supply shafts differently?

Hello,

in the single-family house we want to buy, there are partially panels on the walls in the rooms (screwed, about DIN A4 size). Behind these are apparently supply channels for pipes, ducts, or similar.

I hope you can imagine that.

Is there any other way to cover it so that it looks better visually?

I once had a temporary job at the hardware store. An elderly lady came to me and said she was looking for a strip. When I asked what kind of strip she meant, she replied: Like the one hanging above the toilet in my place.

Here is an example. In this case, there will probably be a pipe behind it. In the other rooms, there are only the panels (so without this elevation), all of which are "on" the wall.
