Last weekend we finally moved in (into our construction site).

Now it's slowly about the furnishing. We are currently having a large 2.2m x 1.2m table made. For that, of course, we still need matching chairs. Since we have a vinyl floor, our floor installer said we would have to stick or nail something like felt underneath.
For that, you would actually need more "normal" chairs with 4 legs.
But now we would prefer a cantilever chair. These actually have a larger contact area than just 4 legs, right?

There is a huge selection. How can a layperson now assess which one is any good?
Do you have good experiences with certain manufacturers or models?

It should be in black leather and the legs in brushed stainless steel look. Or something similar.

Well, I would always go to a furniture store and try sitting on chairs. What use are the most stylish chairs if no one enjoys sitting on them?

Generally correct. But we do not live in a big city. The selection here is very limited to nonexistent. Also, even when I try sitting in the store, I still have no experience from others.

Then I'll just get in the car and drive to one? You don't have to buy everything right at your doorstep...

Oh man.
Seems to be different with you guys but here I still have a lot to do in the house. Just getting into the car and driving there means a day trip. There are more important things to do.

In my opinion, cantilever chairs are only available at designer prices or in the quality class of "cheap knockoffs". Usually, they have "feet" at the outlet and just before the curve, so they do not actually rest on the floor with the apex of the tube.
