Hello everyone,

In the course of an open sewer rehabilitation, we were offered to have the wastewater connection for our construction project done at the same time to save costs. We have now agreed that stoneware will be used and that about 2m from the sewer to our property will be laid.

The soil is rocky, but rock (sandstone) is only encountered at a depth of about 2m...

We have now been quoted an amount of €2,000 + VAT.... For me, this is very high, considering that the sewer is already open anyway and 2 meters of stoneware pipe will be laid blind onto our property without any further special features...

So, is this a normal price?

Hello,

It is irrelevant whether the price is cheap/normal/overpriced. These works may only be carried out by licensed companies that are municipally listed.

You have no possibility of influence

Not really.... but at least there is more than one company that offers this... and I'm not even sure if this requirement actually exists in our community. Besides, it is also possible to get an offer independent of this renovation measure... or to get the offer directly from the community. Whether that then becomes "cheaper" I don't know... but laying 2m of stoneware pipe in an existing trench for 2k + VAT is, in my opinion, outside the affordable range... The "normal" water connection and natural gas each cost about €1500 up to the house.... and come from the street... The sewer line is located directly on the property in the ground....

Hello,

Sigh...

Every - without exception every municipality/city I know has its listed companies (sometimes only one) for the public sector. Do you seriously believe - since it is primarily a desired monopoly position - that any of them would undercut the respective direct beneficiary?

On your own property, you can engage any company you like... even dig yourself. Only licensed companies are allowed to connect to the public sewer.

Just try your luck...

Rhenish greetings

Hi,

I have a similar situation here right now... The neighbor is at the point where the street will be opened soon anyway to connect his house. In this context, I might also be able to have the water + sewer connection for my property (created through property division, so the plots basically only have air and love on them at the moment) installed at the same time. However, since the driveway is about 20m long, a water transfer shaft would be required later.
The connection costs according to the municipality are around 10-15k€ (due to the distance to the house quite expected) – only the building application has not been submitted yet, since it's not finished, and there is therefore no building permit yet (buildability is clarified though). The question arises how far the pipes are allowed to be laid at all, how far it makes sense, and what costs would actually be saved if I have the first meters of pipe laid at the same time as the neighbor. Especially considering: electricity and telecom also have to be installed on the property...

Pondering... I.

P.S.: The municipality of course also has its own operation – and also its own waterworks. An alternative offer consists of 'coordinating and handling everything at once later through the construction partner – then the municipality just digs the street up and down one more time'

Well... in the meantime, I have at least found out that according to our municipality, any civil engineer certified to Quality Assurance Sewer Construction AK2 or higher is allowed to carry out these works. There are about 8 companies in the immediate vicinity, although 3 of them only do large projects... I have now requested quotes from the other 3... let's see what comes of it. I will talk to the people again today and only "participate" if the price goes down significantly or if I am clearly explained why 2,000 bucks are supposed to be charged here. It really is an opportunity right now, but later a trench will have to be dug again anyway... and then a certified person can be brought in to set the final piece... Among these certified civil engineering companies, there was one who might carry out our earthworks for the house... he now has a very good chance of getting the complete contract ;O)
