Can I do maintenance on the descaling system myself?

Hello, we have had a Judo Softwell S descaling system since 2019. It now requires maintenance which we initially skipped. The customer service now wants 320 euros for the maintenance. Does anyone of you do this yourself and know what is done? Do you do the customer service or do you have it done?

Thank you all

Aren't there any opinions about it?

I don't have a descaling system, but what exactly needs to be done? And how is it described in detail in the manual? I would read through it and then decide if I feel confident enough to do it. If it's just a filter or cartridge replacement, I wouldn't spend 300€.

Maybe no one has a Judo? I have a Grünbeck and recently it also lit up for me. Grünbeck has two maintenance intervals. The six-month one is basically just checking everything for leaks and cleaning if necessary. The one-year maintenance involves a proper disassembly, I wouldn't trust myself to do it without having at least seen it once. There are tons of DIY videos online, you can check if you feel confident doing it yourself. I will only do the major one after the warranty has expired.

With us, the customer service comes once a year, that also costs about 300 euros, they completely disassemble, clean, disinfect, and check the function. Because we also drink tap water from the fridge, it is a bit important to us. A car has to go to the customer service every year, that is quite normal, but especially with such things, it is always somehow an issue that such maintenance has to be done.

So there is no maintenance manual for it and that is exactly why I am asking what needs to be done there! I also can’t find any YouTube videos? Not even for other descaling systems?!

I explicitly asked about descaling systems in general.

: how much do the 2 maintenances cost approximately at Grünbeck?

300 per year I find quite steep.
