Good morning, I am currently in the process of lowering my basement (built in 1957). Planned are an excavation of 40cm - strip foundations lie about 10cm deeper, 50mm gravel, 50mm perimeter insulation, bitumen membranes or PE foil, 100mm concrete, tiles. The floor does not have to bear heavy loads; it will be used as a heating cellar and laundry room. The heaviest will probably be the pellet bunker.
A question about the perimeter insulation: I could get 60mm insulation from DOW Agmate Tg very cheaply—really very, very cheaply. According to the manufacturer, this insulation is not suitable for use as perimeter insulation. My question: Does anyone have some experience with these XPS rigid foam boards and can tell me if there can really be major problems? If only the load-bearing capacity of the boards, which are normally used for ceilings, is somewhat lower, this does not matter in my case.
