Hi guys,

I want to determine the gas consumption of my heating system more precisely. The percentage indicator on my underground tank is too inaccurate for me.

It should be possible to deduce the gas consumption based on the condensate water discharged by the gas heating system.

However, I probably lack the necessary chemistry knowledge here.

Can someone tell me how many liters of liquefied gas were burned to produce, for example, 5 liters of condensate water? Or at least how to calculate this. Surely there are other factors that need to be considered as well.

Thank you very much!

So expecting condensation is certainly even less accurate than your percentage display. Just install a gas meter in front of your heater...

Theoretically, the combustion of natural gas≡ produces an amount of water vapor that condenses to 0.16 l of water per kWh≡. This corresponds to approximately 1.6 liters per m³ of burned natural gas of gas quality H. In practice, this value is not achieved. Although the best values under optimal conditions are around 0.14 l/kWh, an average of only about 0.06 liters of condensate≡ per kWh is calculated.

But it is also very imprecise. I would also simply install a gas meter. It doesn't cost a fortune.

For this, another pressure test etc. is probably necessary, right.

I can't do it myself. But I'll ask my heating engineer...
