Hello everyone,

we are currently in the process of purchasing a plot of land from the city. By doing so, we commit to connecting to the district heating. The prices are guaranteed for 10 years, but somehow I have the feeling that it is outrageously expensive?!

The consumption price per kWh is 9.52 cents / kWh The basic price per kW and year is 95.20 euros / kW / year The prices are gross.

Is the following calculation correct...? How many kW of connection capacity is needed for a new energy-efficient house approximately?

I assumed 12 kW. For heating consumption per m² and year I took 45 kW. For hot water I took 12.5 kW per m² and year. (I had once read such data in a newspaper?!).

This results, with 155 m² living area, in a power requirement of 155 m² * ((45 kW / m² / year) + (12.5 kW / m² / year) = 8912 kWh These are costs amounting to 848 euros Plus the basic price of 95.20 euros / kW / year * 12 kW = 960 euros

Total thus per year 1808 euros?!

Can that be correct? Are the assumed values correct? Especially the connection capacity of 12 kW?

I am grateful for any information on this

Thank you in advance

Evo

Depending on the size of the house, location, and type of construction, 5-7 kW are more realistic as heating load including hot water (although I don't exactly know how hot water works with [Fernwärme]). The 9000 kWh are within range, although somewhat high. Still – even 1000 € for heating is quite steep in a new building – but of course, you save on the technology – purely based on feeling, it’s okay.

Thank you for the quick response. However, for us it is not 1000 euros after the invoice but 1800! Because the basic costs of 960 euros (12kW * 95.20 euros) are added.

Could I then assume that a new building with about 155m² (without solar or similar) manages with a connection load of about 7kW?

Are the other calculated values correct?

Thanks again for every tip

Yes, tendentially 7 kW will be sufficient (no guarantee - you can only know for sure after planning the house). The units are not quite right with you - kWh not kW/h. Otherwise, that is not so far-fetched - 45 kWh is plausible (borderline to KWF70 - so not even very well insulated).

We have 130 m² of living space and built with 17.5 cm Poroton + 16 cm insulation. In addition, we have a Danfoss transfer station.

The heating load calculation showed that our transfer station draws a power of 4.65 KW. Our basic price is 70 € per KW. We have consumed 10,700 kWh since April 24, 2014, including the screed heating program and 6 weeks of snowy weather. However, we also use a wood stove in the living/dining room.

The working price was 7.4 cents gross last year. I believe it has become somewhat cheaper this year.
