Hello,
we want to build a house and I have fallen in love with the split-level construction method. I have already done some reading. It is said to provide a good division. However, we do not have the option to build a hillside house, but the plot is flat like a field. But it is not about 4 or more steps, only about 2.
The house must be a very classic house with a gable roof. So no design object from the outside.
How can this be implemented and how much additional cost will the split-level method incur?

A thousand thanks
Johanna

Hello Johanna,

2 levels are not worth it in my opinion

The costs are hard to estimate; most of it will come from the civil engineering and concrete work. Depending on the soil conditions, the structural engineer also has an important say. Within the range of 10% of the construction costs plus "x" (depending on the size of the single-family house, soil conditions, and structural requirements).

Rhenish regards

As someone who thinks in terms of accessibility, I would also consider the joy of movement in old age and prefer not to be annoyed by every step...

Hello, I also think the houses are great, we had already looked at some that were for sale, they are master craftsmen from the 60s and therefore not an option for us. We have now partially designed our floor plan for later, i.e. our "parents' floor" is completely on the ground floor, so bathroom, dressing room, and bedroom next to living room, kitchen, guest WC, and utility rooms. The children's room and the study are upstairs, later a caregiver could move in there. We now have a house with 3 floors including a basement and the stairs are already very annoying...
