Hello

at my advanced age, the time has come again. I am getting a motorcycle (my wife is too, so two).
Since I don’t feel like dragging the bikes into the garage each time, I am planning to build a garage for them.
I have enough space. I like calcium silicate bricks best. I’m thinking max 17.5 cm. Possibly 11.5 cm. Outer dimensions: 200 x 300 and 230 cm high.
I will check with the building authority whether something like this requires a permit.
I will build the garage myself. Need to save money. Also, I enjoy messing around with concrete.
Is there anything absolutely must have?
Give me input.

Depends. Do you also do crafts yourself? Electricity is a must have..

Hello Joedreck

Light and two to three sockets is clear.
Possibly a device for a [Hebebühne]? I am not familiar with that.

Hello,

is 2m width really enough?

If you swing your leg over in a big arc, you almost risk stepping on the rear indicator of your wife's motorcycle - or am I mistaken?

Even if you just want to put the bikes on the side stand instead of the main stand, I find that a bit narrow. You say you have space, then I would build a little wider. I would rather prefer 3x3 m. If you also want to stock shelves with oil, chain lubricant, etc., even a bit more.

I would suggest considering an oil- and acid-resistant floor given the small floor area. Especially if you like to tinker yourself.

Save money? Take a trailer. You don’t need to get it approved by the building authority either. Position it so that you can slide the bikes in without a ramp.

Hello hampshire

might be a bit misleadingly expressed. Of course I like to save. But when it comes to various things, I throw money out the window with both hands. That hardly worries me.
Giving an example of saving on the garage:
I built a climate cellar. The cost estimate from a company was 82,000 euros. Just building, permits, electricity, etc. are extra. Well, I built it myself. Including permits and architect, I am now at about 13,000 euros. That’s what I mean by saving.
