Hello forum

I am quite new here and all information about my project can be found in the introduction section.

At the moment, the topic of insulation is the most interesting for me and I have a few questions that I have not been able to answer so far.

I have decided against Styrofoam (and related) systems and want to use mineral insulation. Whether glass wool or stone wool is still undecided...

Are there any arguments that differentiate between the two?

With external insulation, the problem often arises that the exterior wall remains cold and a lot of moisture condenses on it. This then leads to algae growth and may penetrate into the masonry. The latter can be avoided by installing a foil...
These two problems were specifically mentioned with Styrofoam systems, but I believe this also applies to mineral systems, right?

What must be considered to prevent algae growth with mineral insulation?

Is the counterargument that the outside of the wall should be warm? ;-) Just ask your planner. Also helpful to take a look at neighboring countries, e.g. CH. There is a lot of experience and research on this!

That would be the logical counterargument, but we don't need to discuss the purpose.
Uninsulated houses can usually absorb and release a certain amount of moisture. This "breathing" is prevented by the foil, and the moisture condenses -> algae get good growth conditions.
It is currently circulating in the press that algae formation in [WDVS] is mainly prevented by chemicals. I would like to avoid that... the question is: How?
I don't have a planner yet...

When a AW absorbs moisture, from wherever, the heat loss increases enormously due to the improved thermal conductivity.
The myth of "breathing" walls apparently still persists ;-) There are far more examples of ETICS where no algae formation occurs than vice versa. Representing individual cases as a general trauma for the whole group is a bit shallow.
Yes, the press is a reliable and dependable advisor.
Then you have to find an expert for this.
