hello everyone,

we are currently considering our bathroom. Due to our small new build, we have 8.5 sqm available for the main bathroom on the upper floor. Additionally, we have a knee wall of 1.25 m. I have uploaded a small hand sketch and marked the first positions of the fixtures.

Now I need your advice:
Would you place the toilet directly next to the washbasin? Or rather directly opposite the bathroom door under the sloping roof? Currently, a skylight is planned, but it can still be moved. My wife would also like a small window on the gable side of the house (would be directly in the shower). Does anyone have an idea if this can be realized? Or do you think we should rather get a second skylight? Would you do it completely differently?

Questions, questions ;-)

Many thanks already for your feedback!

Almost to scale, you imagine it like this:

The shower is about 90 x 90, the sink 80 cm, the bathtub 180 x 80, so the 2-meter line would be roughly at the upper edge of the bathtub.
For entering and exiting the shower, just under 70 cm remain in front of the bathtub, with RBM plus plaster and tiles even less.
For that, you have almost half of the bathroom unfurnished. These are not ideal dimensions, although a bathroom without a slope works very well with these measurements.

Also, the idea of a window in the gable does bring light, but little joy.

For how many people is the bathroom designed?

I would probably choose such a variant, then the furnishing would be balanced and everything would be utilized. There would also still be space for a window and it would not be disturbing.

Hello ypg, the bathroom is currently intended for 2 adults and later possibly 2 children as well. But there is still a bathroom with a shower on the ground floor, so not all maximum 4 people are in this bathroom.

Thursday, as you have drawn it is the first option. The second option would be to position the toilet opposite the door. Then you can also exit the shower in the other direction or it can also be a shower with an angled door.

With the second option, on the one hand we are unsure whether the skylight has to be exactly above the toilet because of the headroom. On the other hand, we find it strange if you come in through the door and see the toilet directly there...

What do you think of a low wall between the toilet and the bathtub in option 2?

I prefer the first variant of YPG, which corresponds to your sketch. The wasted space is perfect for a dresser or something where towels and all sorts of things can be stored. 2 Velux, if there is enough money. Or a nice big one. nothing on the forehead.

I completely overlooked your suggestion. The space layout looks significantly more harmonious! The only thing is that the shower at the entrance narrows the field of view when opening the door (in my opinion after a brief consideration). And shouldn't there be a skylight above the toilet so you don't constantly hit your head?

If you now swap the shower again with the sink, you couldn't implement the small window again. Or does something like that work in a wet room?

Thanks a lot in advance. My ideas were all pretty much set already ;)
